Justin Loveitt, Owner

Justin grew up in Gorham and received his bachelor’s degree in Construction Management from the University of Maine at Orono. Justin started his professional career at Shaw Brothers Construction. He eventually left the state and went on to work for Ames Construction’s Colorado operation. Justin later returned to Maine to rejoin Shaw Brothers, where he spent a total of eight years learning and fostering relationships with some of the best in the business. Justin has always been passionate about learning every facet of the industry.

Justin joined Dave Chase at Chase Excavating in 2017 with the intentions to purchase the company. In April of 2019, the transfer of ownership was complete and Justin was now responsible for the well established civil construction company. Justin enjoys being involved in all aspects of operating the company, from estimating, to construction of jobs, to teaching the team (and letting them teach him.) In his down time, Justin enjoys life in Freeport with his wife Caitlin, their son Brayden and daughter Julia.

History

In 1983 Dave Chase went out on his own with one rubber tire loader backhoe and a 1976 International 6 yard dump truck. Alas, the Chase Excavating brand was born. As Dave maneuvered the excavating industry in southern Maine, his thoughtful and genuine customer service proved to make him stand out.

In 1986, Chase Excavating finally had a real home when Dave purchased the former Hamlin Sand & Gravel building at 50 Gray Road in Falmouth. But the Chase Excavating story doesn’t end here. The business grew with the help of repeat customers and a loyal team. In 2014, Dave converted the property to Falmouth Self Storage and bought 56 Gray Road, previously the Elm Ice & Oil building. Today, Chase Excavating still uses this location as their main hub, including easy access to their stockyard, and three-bay industrial garage spanning 5,000 square feet.

Additionally, we host industry leading safety instructors twice per year where all employees receive paid safety training.
